Wounded Discussion Question #1

How do you think Marcus's family felt when his father had his time out at war extended? How do you think the family's dynamic might change when he returns?

I think his family felt crushed, because they had to wait another 3(?) months to see the father. I know I would've felt horrible if my father was gone for most of the year.  I think the family dynamics will change greatly, Megan would no longer need her "daddy pillow" because she'd have no reason for it, The Mother would stop her anxiety cleaning and try to quit smoking, and Marcus would be able to stop worrying and finally take a breather.

  1. There whole outlook on life was ruined, there dreams where all shattered.

The mother was scared, and frightend that something might of happened to him considering he has made no contact with them for 3 weeks.

And the family is more worried that maybe they will give him more time to serve, And the position the father is in is very hard because he cant see what his family is, doing and how well they are.

  2. Never the less, It is obvious that eruic walters is very detailed in his book writing, What he does (im guessing) is that he does so much research about a certain book he is doing, and writes about it. This is because when you read the story it is so organzized and detailed that you think a fellow army man is saying it.

  3. I think marcus's family felt really put down, that his father has to leave for longer time and that they have to wait for 3 months for marcus's dad to return. The family dynamic might change since the summary says that his father get post tranmatic stress disorder that may affect the family by megan "pillow" may no longer be needed and marcus's doesnt have to do as much work like he has to, but soon it will all change.

  4. I think that they were upset because they were looking forward to seeing they're dad, but now they have to wait even longer.

  5. I think the fact of his father leaving for X number of months in the first place would be hard on them but then finding out that his time away was going to be extended would be crushing on them. When(If) he returns I think the family will be overwhelmed with joy and will be excited to do things with him but he will most likely be tired and would like to just rest and the war could have changed him and he could be a different person then the family remembers.

  6. The war does change him by the "post traumatic stress disorder" said in the back of the book but what you said I agree.
