Copy down a quote from a character and explain why you think it's meaningful. What does it suggest about this character's personality? Personal qualities? Etc. Explain your thinking.
"He was a good husband. He was a good father. He was a good soldier. I knew that it wasn't cool for a fifteen-year-old to look up to his father, but he was kind if like my hero. Scratch that -- he was my hero."
-- Marcus (Wounded)
As you can plainly see, Marcus idolizes his father who is currently off in war and misses him dearly. The word "was" is italicised because in that part of the story, Marcus and his mother assume that his father is dead. I think he idolizes him because his father is in the special forces, and probably the male role model in his life and from the "He was a good father" I can see he deserved that idolization.

What were your feelings and first impressions after reading the opening chapters of this book? Explain
When I first started "Wounded" I didn't think it would be for me. But now that I've gotten farther into it I think I may like it. I thought the story would be one of those, sad, mushy, stories. Especially when "Courtney" was introduced. It seemed like it would be too "lovey dovey wahh wahh" for me but now its starting to pick up, in my opinion.
